Frequently asked questions
is amigos free?
Yes!
What can I use Amigos for?
Amigos is meant to make any situation more fun. Some examples:
You’re sitting in a park and want to know if the group next to you would be open to having you and your friends join them.
You are in the mood for an afterparty.
You are sitting at home and you’re bored.
You want to go for a stroll, but can’t find someone to join you.
You are looking for people who share the same hobby as you.
After returning from your travels, it strikes you that people are ‘less open’ back home.
Your friends are settling down or less outgoing.
You are new in town and don’t know many people yet.
You want to know where your friends are hanging out.
Is Amigos suitable for all ages?
Amigos is suitable for ages of 18 years and above. By using the age filter, you can decide which age group is visible to you and who can see your profile.
Do I have to meet certain requirements?
No, anyone who likes having fun together can use Amigos.
Can anyone just see me on the map?
No. Only when and where you choose to share that information.
Is Amigos meant for low-key interactions?
Yes. With Amigos we want to make every situation more enjoyable. Usually spontaneous contact works best for that, but you can plan activities as you like. You can find people in your area who are currently up for the same thing as you. And you can spontaneously host an activity.
Can you schedule an activity through Amigos?
Yes. This can be done spontaneously on the same day, tomorrow or even a week or month in advance!
How can I plan an activity via Amigos?
You can do this by tapping on the purple ‘plus button’ that you see on the map. Now other amigos can see what you have planned and are able to join your activity.
How does the host fee work? Asking a (mandatory) contribution for my activity
To share costs of organising an activity, you can ask other amigos for a small contribution, that we call the ‘host fee’. For example, to pay for food, drinks, decoration, cleaning or simply your time and effort. Another benefit of asking for a contribution (even if it’s only €1), is that it helps to prevent no-shows. It increases the level of commitment and chances that the amigos who joined will actually show up. After the activity has taken place (within 72 hours), you will receive the contributions on your bank account. This waiting period is needed to check if the activity was legit.

How am I able to see if there is something to do in my neighbourhood?
Use the map to see what other amigos are up for. Each person is represented by a purple person icon on the map. The activities created by amigos are shown as orange location pins on the map. By clicking these icons, you can connect and join.
Can I bring someone along if I have joined another amigo?
Of course! The only thing you must do is to invite this person. This can be done by going to the activity and clicking: ‘Invite amigos.’ He or she has to register through the link you sent them.
Can I chat with someone before joining their activity?
Yes, with the other amigo permitting. Each amigo profile has a chat icon that you can use to reach out and talk. For example, you can agree on a time and location together, or ask if you can bring something to the activity.
What’s the difference between a person icon and an orange location pin?
A purple person icon represents an amigo. By selecting a ‘mood’, they can show what they are up for today. For example a talk. In that case a text cloud will show up on the map above that amigo. A orange location pin represents an activity that another amigos has hosted. Activities can be planned in the future or are taking place right now.
What do ‘hosted’, joined’ and ‘favorited’ in my profile mean?
‘Hosted’ shows the number of times you've organised something, ‘joined’ shows how many activities you have joined in the past, and ‘favorited’ shows the number of amigos who added you to their favorite list.
How do I know if someone is trustworthy?
We do everything we can to make sure only legit amigos are using the app. You can help us, by giving out recommendations (stars) to other amigos or reporting shady activities to us when you have a bad experience. This way we can easily block unwanted ‘amigos.’
What is the protocol for a report?
If you have an Amigos account, you can report a profile or activity that does not follow the Amigos Community Guidelines. Filing a report is anonymous. If you would still like to get in touch with the Amigos support team to explain the report in more detail, you can do so via WhatsApp chat. The person you reported won't see who filed the report.
What are the Amigos guidelines?
Amigos’ goal is to create an open culture together. These can be situations that you organise yourself or where you join others. We want Amigos to remain a reliable and safe place for spontaneous socialising. Examples of situations that are not allowed:
Commercial events;
Everything related to hard drugs, sex and discrimination;
Vacancies;
Promotion of another platform;
Hateful language;
Incorrect information;
Scams or fraud.
Can I invite amigos to my home?
Yes, you can meet amigos where you prefer. Whether it’s at home or a location nearby. You can invite amigos through the chat and send the joined amigos your exact location. Other amigos only join after you accept their request.
Where is Amigos available?
Amigos is available in the Netherlands and Belgium. Soon we will be launching in more countries, so you will be able to use the app when travelling. Want to help us grow? Invite your friends to become Amigos’ founders in their city!
