Is Amigos a good platform for meeting expats?
Yes. Amigos is a great way to meet new people, whether it be locals or expats.
Why is my area still locked on the map?
To make sure you have the best experience, we first need enough people to join our platform. As soon as enough people have joined, the app will be unlocked in your area.
Do I have to meet certain requirements?
Yes. Amigos is a peer-to-peer platform for social events. As a user, you make the experience. Those that feel most at home in our community are outgoing, energetic and highly social people that love to connect and create fun novel experiences for themselves and others. Each and every one of our amigos value friendship, safety and consent and are respectful of other's boundaries. Communication is open, honest and unconditional. #nodatingapp Good vibes only! Our Support Team actively investigates all reports of unwanted behaviour on our platform. If for any reason you are unable to agree with the above, please don't use Amigos!

Yes we do! As a welcome gift, new members get a 30% discount on the first three months and two free drinks on attending their first Membership Event.
Can anyone just see me on the map?
No. Only when and where you choose to share that information.
Is Amigos meant to be spontaneous?
Yes. With Amigos we want to make every situation more enjoyable. Usually spontaneous contact works best for that, but you can plan activities as you like. You can find people in your area who are currently up for the same thing as you. And you can spontaneously host an activity.
Can you schedule an activity through Amigos?
Yes. This can be done spontaneously on the same day, tomorrow or even a week or month in advance!
How can I host an activity via Amigos?
You can do this by tapping on the purple ‘plus button’ that you see on the map. Then just follow the creation steps by filling in the fields. Our Support Team checks your activity to make sure all is legit. Once your activity has been approved an published, it becomes visible on the map. Now other amigos are able to view and join your activity.
How does the Safety Check work?
To ensure our community remains a safe and friendly place, we ask our users to evaluate the quality of their chat conversations. The amigo receiving the chat request, can give a 'thumbs up' (all is well) or a 'thumbs down' (all is not well) score. We keep to a "three strikes and you're out" rule. When an amigo receives three consecutive 'thumbs down' reports, their account is blocked. To remove the block, first they need to contact our Support Team and explain their motives.
How does the host fee work? Asking a (mandatory) contribution for my activity
To share costs of organising an activity, you can ask other amigos for a small contribution, that we call the ‘host fee’. For example, to pay for food, drinks, decoration, cleaning or simply your time and effort. Another benefit of asking for a contribution (even if it’s only €1), is that it helps to prevent no-shows. It increases the level of commitment and chances that the amigos who joined will actually show up. After the activity has taken place (within 72 hours), you will receive the contributions on your bank account. This waiting period is needed to check if the activity was legit.

How am I able to see if there is something to do in my neighbourhood?
Use the map to see what other amigos are up for. Each person is represented by a purple person icon on the map. The activities created by amigos are shown as orange location pins on the map. By clicking these icons, you can connect and join.
Can I bring someone along if I have joined another amigo?
Of course! The only thing you must do is to invite this person. This can be done by going to the activity and clicking: ‘Invite amigos.’ He or she has to register through the link you sent them.
Can I chat with someone before joining their activity?
Yes, with the other amigo permitting. Each amigo profile has a chat icon that you can use to reach out and talk. For example, you can agree on a time and location together, or ask if you can bring something to the activity.
What’s the difference between a person icon and an orange location pin?
A purple person icon represents an amigo. By selecting a ‘mood’, they can show what they are up for today. For example a talk. In that case a text cloud will show up on the map above that amigo. A orange location pin represents an activity that another amigos has hosted. Activities can be planned in the future or are taking place right now.
What do ‘hosted’, joined’ and ‘favorited’ in my profile mean?
‘Hosted’ shows the number of times you've organised something, ‘joined’ shows how many activities you have joined in the past, and ‘favorited’ shows the number of amigos who added you to their favorite list.
How do I know if someone is trustworthy?
We do everything we can to make sure only legit amigos are using the app. You can help us, by giving out recommendations (stars) to other amigos or reporting shady activities to us when you have a bad experience. This way we can easily block unwanted ‘amigos.’
What is the protocol for a report?
If you have an Amigos account, you can report a profile or activity that does not follow the Amigos Community Guidelines. Filing a report is anonymous. If you would still like to get in touch with the Amigos support team to explain the report in more detail, you can do so via WhatsApp chat. The person you reported won't see who filed the report.
What are the Amigos guidelines?
Amigos’ goal is to create an open culture together. These can be situations that you organise yourself or where you join others. We want Amigos to remain a reliable and safe place for spontaneous socialising. Examples of situations that are not allowed:
Everything related to hard drugs, sex and discrimination;
Promotion of another platform;
Scams or fraud.
Where is Amigos available?
Amigos is currently available in Ireland, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands and Belgium. Soon we will be launching in more countries, so you will be able to use the app when travelling. Want to help us grow? Invite your friends to become Amigos’ founders in their city!
Can I invite amigos to my home?
Yes, you can meet amigos where you prefer. Whether it’s at home or a location nearby. You can invite amigos through the chat and send the joined amigos your exact location. Other amigos only join after you accept their request.
Why was my registration declined?
Amigos is primarily a community for locals, but also expats and global minds. Membership is at the discretion of our Support Team; they carefully review applications, do background checks and potentially ask why you would like to join. If you’d like more information on your specific application and the chance to re-apply, please get in touch with firstname.lastname@example.org.
I can’t find the confirmation link. What should I do?
Please first check your junk folder (or social and promotions folder if you use gmail). Still can’t find the confirmation link? Get in touch with us at email@example.com.
